The Tamil National Alliance (TNA) in Parliament yesterday slammed the Central Government of India for not intervening to bring about a ceasefire in the North.
TNA MP N. Srikantha who spoke during the debate on the Ranaviru Seva Authority Amendment Bill in the House yesterday said India did not call for a ceasefire though it could have called for it.
“India could have called for a ceasefire if it wanted but it did not do so as it was working according to its own agenda,” Mr. Srikantha pointed out.
“He reiterated that India should intervene even now as it is not too late,” he added.
The TNA MP also called on the entire international community to press for a ceasefire in Sri Lanka stating that the situation of the civilians in Wanni is deteriorating.
He said the aspirations of the Tamil people in the North was lasting peace and that should be met.
